  • ITB - a big success for Rwanda

    The world’s biggest tourist trade show, the International Tourist Fair (ITB), took place in Berlin march 8th to march 12th. More than 162.800 visitors rushed into the halls of the fair by the radio tower to catch up on foreign countries, cultures and travel offers. The offer was enormous. More than 10.800 exhibiting companies from 183 countries were represented and wanted to convince the visitors of themselves, their region and their country. All the booths were created in an originally and creative way. In all the places catalogues and brochures were displayed and showed fascinating pictures from apparently foreign worlds. Furthermore many exhibitors attracted the visitor’s attention with music and dance.

  • Impressing visit in Rwanda

    From march 19th to march 25th Karin Korthmann, parliamentary State Secretary in the Federal Ministry for economic cooperation and development, travelled together with four members of the parliament to the East African countries Kenya, Rwanda and Burundi in order to talk about the German development cooperation. In Rwanda the delegation was received by President Paul Kagame as well as by various Rwandan ministers. The President was very pleased with the interest and asked his visitors to make these kinds of visits more often so that the relations between Germany and Rwanda can be promoted.

  • Africa helps itself - with the “New partnership for Africa’s development”

    For a short time six schools in Rwanda are “E-Schools”. They have been equipped with computers, software and internet access and the teachers were especially skilled so that they can teach the students how to handle computers and the internet. The six schools are only the beginning of a mayor project that is planned on a larger scale. In five years all African high schools, in ten years even all primary schools are supposed to be at this level. Until now only one percent of the African population is using the internet, whereas in Europe 40% of the population is using the internet. Through the “E-Schools” the digital split ought to be vanquished and thus make the connection of Africa to the information society possible.
